Sawatch Range, Colorado – On June 29, 2018 Alex Nichols and Joe Grant set two FKTs for the supported and unsupported records on the Nolan’s 14 Challenge in the Sawatch Range of Colorado.
Nichols set the FKT for the supported record on Nolan’s 14 while traveling northbound with a time of 46 hours, 41 minutes. He broke the previous record by roughly an hour. That record of 46 hours, 46 minutes was held by Iker Karrera.
Grant set the unsupported record on Nolan’s 14 while traveling southbound in 49 hours, 38 minutes. He broke the previous southbound record by roughly 4 hours. That record of 53 hours, 39 minutes was set by Andrew Hamilton.
Nolan’s 14 is a mountain challenge that “links 14 consecutive 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado’s Sawatch Range over the course of 80 miles, with 44,000 feet of elevation gain” (GearJunkie.com).
