Lenin Peak, Kyrgyzstan – On July 28, 2018 two climbers were killed in an avalanche while descending from Camp 3 on 7134-meter Lenin Peak in the Chon-Alai Range in southern Kyrgyzstan near the border with Tajikistan.

The victims were descending in bad weather with poor visibility. When rescuers responded they found their tracks disappeared at the site of an avalanche.
The victims were identified as Semyon Dvornichenko from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Natalya Chionova from Moscow, Russia. RBC.ru, REN.tv, and AIF.ru write that Dvornichenko was a local guide.
It is reported that rescuers located the body of Chionova by drone and were able to recover her on August 3. Dvornichenko is still missing.
