Dagestan, Russia – On November 27, 2018 a hunter was killed in an avalanche near the village of Khushet in the Dagestan Republic of Russia.
The accident occurred while two local residents were hunting. The victim, identified as Khalidpash Kurbanov, was killed in the avalanche. The other individual was able to escape the slide and alert authorities.
Local rescuers responded, but reached out to other rescuers with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to Stav.kp.ru, those rescuers decided not to assist because the victim was already dead.
Villagers decided to take the rescue into their own hands and recovered the body of the victim on their own. Stav.kp.ru, also notes that the rescue services were unable to reach the remote destination due to bad weather.
