Troms, Norway – On Wednesday, January 2, 2019 three men from Finland and one woman from Sweden were reported missing in an avalanche in Blåbærfjellet in Tamokdalen near Troms in Norway. After days of searching, all four skiers are now presumed dead (EuroNews.com).

During the group’s ascent a 5th member of the ski party, a Swedish man, decided to turn around. The other four individuals continued up. This man reported the avalanche around 15:00.
YLE.fi reports that the avalanche was 300 meters wide by 500-600 meters long. Ski tracks were spotted going into the avalanche, but none coming out.
Rescuers responded, but the weather and avalanche conditions complicated rescue efforts. On Friday, a helicopter rescue team located two avalanche transceiver signals. Authorities believe that the four skiers did not survive.
