Beehive Basin Ski Touring

The weather has been warm here in Montana. It’s been raining in the Meadow and probably raining up high too. I’ve still been trying to ski. Beehive Basin is just up the road and it’s a fantastic playground. There are mellow lines, big open bowls, tight couloirs, and some incredible lines. These shots are from the last few days. I haven’t skied anything super exciting, but I definitely have enjoyed the scenery and making turns with friends.

Just some fun pictures below, not the most exciting post.

Beehive Peak

This is Beehive Basin from near the trailhead.

Beehive Trailhead

There’s still this much snow at the trailhead on May 17.

Lee Metcalf Wilderness

Lee Metcalf Wilderness sign is half buried.

Now for some crazy west facing lines as you’re walking up Beehive.

Headwaters Big Sky

Big Sky looks like it’s mid-winter. Great coverage over that way.

Cedar Couloir

What a fun looking line out on Cedar. I’ve been eyeballing this one for a while now.

Deer!

Driving up we ran into a herd of deer. They followed the road all the way to Beehive Basin. One took a header into the pavement! The next day we saw a moose. It’s animal season out there.
