Male and Female Lithuanian Climbers Die In Avalanche On Mont Blanc In French Alps

A group of three Lithuanian climbers were caught in an avalanche on Mont Blanc near Chamonix in the Argentiere sector. The avalanche occurred around noon at approximately 3,200 meters on Sunday, January 3, 2015. A man and woman died in the avalanche, while another climber escaped unharmed.
Due to new snow, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve released a statement urging “everyone to take the utmost precaution because of a high avalanche risk… in the coming hours”. Please be careful out there.
This is the first and second avalanche fatality in the French Alps for the 2015/2016 winter.
Mont Blanc sits at 4,810 meters. It is the highest mountain in the Alps.
