Entraunes, France – On Friday, March 2, 2018 four skiers were killed in an avalanche near the Col de la Cayolle in Mercantour National Park near Estenc and the Entraunes ski area in in the Alpes-Maritimes of southeastern France.

A group of 5 ski tourers were skiing with a ski guide in an off piste area when they triggered the slide between 12:00 and 13:00.
According to FranceTVInfo.fr, the guide was uninjured and conducted the initial rescue. The guide recovered one person, but four individuals did not survive.
