Avalanche Kills 2 Snowmobilers Near Esmeralda Peak In Washington

Esmeralda Peak, Washington – On Saturday, March 3, 2018 two snowmobilers were caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche at 4600 feet north of Esmeralda Peak near the North Fork of the Teanaway River north of Cle Elum in Washington.

A group of 4 snowmobilers were involved in the avalanche. Two were killed. One suffered minor injuries and another suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital.

YakimaHerald.com identified the victims as 27-year-old Zach Roundtree and 41-year-old James Larson, a Bonney Lake Police Officer.
