Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand – On November 29, 2018 a tramper was caught, buried, and killed in an avalanche on the Eugenie Glacier near Footstool Mountain near Aoraki/Mount Cook on the South Island of New Zealand.
The avalanche occurred around 13:30 and two trampers were involved. One of the trampers suffered minor injuries and the other died in the avalanche. A third tramper had stayed behind at the Sefton Bivouac hut and was not involved.
