Snowmobiler Dies After Avalanche Near Hospital Creek Near Of Golden, British Columbia

Golden, British Columbia – On Friday, February 9, 2018 a 36-year-old man was seriously injured in an avalanche near Hospital Creek northeast of Golden, British Columbia. Unfortunately, the man died from the injuries sustained in the slide on February 15.

Golden District Search and Rescue responded to the accident and found the man buried 3 meters deep. The man had been extricated by others in the area. Rescuers transported the individual to the hospital in Golden. He was then airlifted to a hospital in Calgary.

According to Avalanche.ca, the size 2 avalanche occurred at 2100 meters on a north aspect. They write “A snowmobiler was caught and buried in an avalanche east of Golden, BC. Burial depth was reported as 3 metres. The subject was not breathing when extricated. CPR was initiated and the subject was transported to Golden Hospital then transferred to Calgary via STARS air ambulance. The victim passed away Feb 15.
