Chattar-Gali Pass, Jammu & Kashmir – At around 9 am on Thursday, May 5, 2017 an avalanche struck a minibus near Chattar-Gali Pass on the Bhaderwah-Basholi Highway in the Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir.
The bus was traveling from Bani to Banderwah. The avalanche occurred while the bus was traversing around a glacier. The force of the slide plunged the bus into a 1500-meter deep gorge in Thanthera Meadow.
The bus was carrying at least 12 passengers when the incident occurred. At least 5 of those passengers were killed, several others were injured.
