Avalanche Kills Ski Tourer Near Monte Coglians In Udine, Italy

Monte Coglians, Italy – On February 5, 2019 a 47-year-old solo ski tourer was killed in an avalanche while ascending Mount Coglians in Val Degano in the Carnic Alps in Udine in Italy.

When the skier did not return at the end of the day, the family alerted authorities. Rescuers responded and located the victim late that night at roughly 2400 meters. He was buried under a meter of snow. It appears that the slide ran 600-700 meters.
