French Mountain Guide Killed In Avalanche On Mount Mamai In Buryatia, Russia (UPDATED)

Buryatia, Russia – On Sunday, March 12, 2017 a French Mountain Guide was killed in an avalanche on Mount Mamai in the Kabansky District in the Republic of Buryatia in Russia.

Four skiers were caught in an avalanche while they were skiing on Mount Mamai. Three managed to escape the slide, but one individual was killed in the avalanche.

One of the skiers managed to alert authorities by phone. A search and rescue team from Baikal responded to the scene which was over 150km away. The group had not properly registered their activities with Russian authorities. Therefore authorities had no information on them.
