Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia – On August 8, 2018 four soldiers with the National Guard of Russia (Rosgvardia) were killed in an avalanche at 4500 meters on the Mizhirgi Glacier between Dykh-Tau and Pushkin Peak in the Caucasus Mountains in the Cherek Region of Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia.

The avalanche victims were conducting military training at the time of the accident. They were attempting to climb Pushkin Peak.

Interfax.ru identified the victims as Eugene Kogut, Pamir Seitov, AlexanderPekar, and Vadim Aryslanov. According to News.Mail.ru, one individual survived. They were all qualified as spetsnaz soldiers and were training as mountaineering instructors (Interfax.ru).
