- Dutch Alpinist Falls To His Death During Ueli Steck’s 82 Summits Project – OutsideOnline.com – Marijn Seuren fell while climbing the 13,126 foot Aiguille de Rochefort on the France/Italy border. Seuren was climbing with Ueli Steck on his 82 Summits project. RIP.
- Broad Peak Avalanche Leaves One Dead, Injured Climbers Wait For Evacuation – Alpinist.com – On Monday July, 20, an avalanche hit 8051 meter tall Broad Peak in Pakistan. Seven people were swept down the mountain killing one porter and injuring two climbers.
- Key Las Lenas, Argentina Chairlift Is Fixed After 9 Days! – SnowBrains.com – After a storm deposited 5-feet of snow in mid July, an avalanche derailed the Neptuno Chair. The Neptuno is the chair that accesses the legendary Marte Chair.
- Scott Jurek Cited For AT Celebration – OutsideOnline.com – Scott Jurek recently broke the speed record for completing the entire Appalachian Trail in 46 days, 8 hours, and 7 minutes. Unfortunately, some party poopers weren’t so pleased that he popped some champagne at the finish. What are your thoughts?

- Two Campers Found Dead In Colorado: Possibly Carbon Monoxide Poisoning – Seattle Backpackers Magazine – Jeffrey and Cameron Beard of Colorado Springs were found dead in their tent at Maroon Lake near Aspen, Colorado. Carbon monoxide poisoning is suspected as cause of death. RIP.

- Ian Flanders: BASE Jumper Dies While Filming Documentary About Dangers Of BASE Jumping (Video) – HNGN – American BASE jumper, Ian Flanders, died while filming a documentary about BASE Jumping. RIP.
- Snow Falls On Mauna Kea Summit In July – Hawaii News Now – While we are all enjoying summer in mountain towns, snow seems like a long way off. Yet it’s snowing in the most southern state in the US – Hawaii. In July.

- Extreme Skier, Kayaker, and Mountaineer Dies On Solo Mission – Flathead Beacon – Andy Zimet is known for getting after it. Unfortunately, the athlete and anesthesiologist from Whitefish, Montana was found dead in his sleeping bag in his tent below the summit of Kyrgyzstan’s 23,406-foot Lenin Peak. RIP.
- Battle Over Heli Skiing Plan Divides Community – Durango Herald – Silverton is exploring the options of expanding heli-ski terrainon public land. Here’s the latest.

- USFS Accepts CBMR’s Expansion Project Proposal – WestElkProject.com – Crested Butte Mountain Resort is about to get bigger. The USFS accepted the proposal for 500 more acres of skiing, 2 new chairlifts, and 15 miles of single track trail, amongst otter improvements.
- Meru: Official Trailer – MeruFilm.com – Meru chronicles Jimmy Chin, Conrad Anker, and Renan Ozturk as they attempt the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru in India. The trailer has dropped and the film will hit theaters on August 14. Who’s going?
