Big Sky Gets Over A Foot Of Snow In September!

Big Sky Resort Reports 12″ to 16″ of Snow on September 18!

Fall is still a few days away but Big Sky just got pounded with the first significant storm of the season. Based on reports from Big Sky Resort’s official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages, Big Sky is reporting 12 inches of snow in the bowl at mid-mountain and over 16+ inches of snow on Lone Peak.

It snowed to about 7,500 feet in the Big Sky area. It was nice to get out in my backyard to see this for myself. Check out some sweet photos of Big Sky and watch a storm cycle time lapse below.

 

The high country of Montana is coated in white. It’s nice to know that winter is right around the corner, but this early season storm might not necessarily be a good thing for the long term snowpack.  Chime in with your thoughts…
