This Is Not Happening! – Don Bowie’s Crampons Stolen At 8,000 Meters On K2

After summiting K2, the 2nd highest mountain in the world, in 2007, Don Bowie returned to camp at 8,000 meters. On the way back to their tent his team found an emaciated climber who they helped back to camp. As they arrived in their tent a Himalayan storm hit and the mountain went into total whiteout conditions.

When they woke in the morning, Bowie’s crampons were gone from the tent’s vestibule. Now he has to make it down from one of the hardest mountains to climb in the world. This is his story:
