Watch Ludovico Einaudi’s Historic Arctic Performance Of Elegy For The Arctic
Greenpeace joined forces with Italian Composer and Pianist Ludovico Einaudi to create a stunning visual reminder to the world that climate change is real.
Last week, Ludovico Einaudi climbed aboard a floating wooden iceberg-shaped platform with a baby grand piano and performed a piece that was specifically written for this moment in history. The piece is called Elegy For The Arctic.
Einaudi played the piece while floating in the middle of the Arctic Ocean in front of the melting and crumbling Wahlenbergbreen glacier near Svalbard, Norway. Pieces of ice can be seen and heard as they literally tumble into the Arctic ocean while he played. The environmental message is loud and clear.

This musical event and subsequent viral video coincided with the OSPAR Commission meeting in Tenerife, Spain. That meeting is an attempt to agree on the creation of protected zones in the Arctic’s international waters.
