Katie Bono Sets Women’s Speed Record On Denali With A Round Trip Time Of 21 Hours, 6 Minutes

Denali, Alaska – On June 13-14, 2017, 29-year-old Katie Bono set a new women’s speed record for climbing Denali via the West Buttress in just 21 hours and 6 minutes. Way to go, Katie!

At 20,310′, Denali is the highest peak in North America. Bono left basecamp at 7200′ at 6 AM on June 13, summited Denali at 20,310′ in -40 degree temps at 8:46 PM, and returned to basecamp at 3 AM on June 14. Super impressive.

 

The men’s speed record on Denali was set by Kilian Jornet in 2014 at 11 hours, 48 minutes.
