Laila Peak, Pakistan – On May 11, 2018 French skiers Carole Chambaret, Tiphaine Duperier and Boris Langenstein made the first ski descent of Laila Peak from the 6096-meter summit. The trio skied the picture-perfect 1500-meter 50° NW Face – and according to PlanetMountain.com and Instagram (below) they skied it in powder snow. Congrats!

On May 25, 2018 Italy’s Cala Cimenti and Switzerland’s Matthias Koenig made the 2nd ski descent of Laila Peak’s coveted NW face.

In 2005, Fredrik Ericsson and Jörgen Aamot became the first people to try and ski Laila Peak from the summit, but were unsuccessful. Despite numerous other attempts, no one has been able to ski Laila Peak from the top until French skiers Carole Chambaret, Tiphaine Duperier and Boris Langenstein pulled it off. Congrats!

French skiers Carole Chambaret, Tiphaine Duperier and Boris Langenstein left this spring for Pakistan to ski Laila Peak (6096m) where they just realised one of their dreams and skied the first descent of this very beautiful peak. Here are the teams comments @12moisdhiver : “ Highlighted in 1987 by Simon Yates and first ski attempt in 2005 by Fredrick Ericsson, ten or so expeditions succeed from the very esthetics Laila Peak (6096m). But the snow conditions wasn’t never good enough to ski from the summit this perfect pyramid ! 11th May 2018, started at 1.30am from the basecamp, we reached the summit of Laila during the day. After more than 2000m vertical meters in a spectacular place between snow couloir, climbing mixed rock and ice, South and North exposure. After 12 hours of physical effort, Laila offered us the chance to ski his summit in perfect conditions. Nice weather, no wind, a big moment of happiness at the summit, then an incredible descent of 1800 vertical meters in powder snow !!! We realize one of our dream…. » – @12moisdhiver #voelklskis #volkl #unlessyourideit
