On Sunday a man in Estes Park, Colorado decided it was a good idea to stand in the middle of an elk herd to take photos and film the wild animals. He was subsequently gored by a male elk protecting his turf. The man was knocked over and tossed around by the bull elk. Male elk are aggressive during this time of year because it is mating season.

According to Outside Online, the man was “treated and released later that evening.” Colorado Parks and Wildlife along with the Estes Park Police Department are trying to determine if the incident warrants charges of animal harassment.

This incident follows in a string of wildlife/human incidents involving photos and selfies in Yellowstone and in Colorado.

Please do not approach wild animals.
