Skier Dies After 2000′ Fatal Fall In Beartooth Mountains Near Montana/Wyoming Border

Beartooth Mountains – On Saturday, June 24, 2017 19-year-old Benjamin Fern Tesseneer from Bozeman, Montana died from severe head and chest trauma after suffering a 2000′ fatal fall while climbing a steep and rocky chute near Glacier Lake in the Beartooth Mountains near the Montana/Wyoming border.

Tesseneer was climbing the ski line with his sister when the accident occurred. The sister had climbed roughly 1000′ up the chute when she decided to stop. Tesseneer proceeded to climb another 1000′ feet before falling. It is unclear how he fell. Tesseneer was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

According to a Park County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, rescuers included “Carbon County deputies, Red Lodge Montana Search and Rescue, and a Life Flight helicopter from St. Vincent Medical Center in Billings.” Rescuers gave Tesseneer CPR for 40 minutes, but were unable to revive him.

The accident happened roughly 500 feet south of the Montana/Wyoming border in Park County, Wyoming.
