Chamonix, France – On Sunday, January 28, 2018 two British skiers died after falling several hundred meters in the Chapeau Couloir – a steep off piste area near Grands Montets Ski Area in Chamonix, France.

Three skiers were off piste when the accident occurred. The group followed tracks into the 40-degree slope where they slipped in icy conditions while crossing a rocky section. PGHM reports that the two fell independently of each other. The 3rd skier alerted authorities.

The victims are reportedly from Cambridge and were on holiday with a tour operator at the resort (Mirror.co.uk). They were 25 and 30. It is reported that they died instantly.
