SNOTEL Data: The Current Western US Snowpack – SWE % Of Normal – April 1, 2018

It’s April 1st, but this isn’t an April’s Fool joke. This is the latest SNOTEL data for the western US. March was a snowy month and most of the southern states played a bit of catch up on snowpack, but the north is still winning. Many of the best mountain ranges are plastered in snow and the for backcountry skiers the winter is just beginning.

Let’s take a look at the snow data for the western US compared to normal. Below is the Westwide SNOTEL Current Snow Water Equivalent % of Normal as of April 1, 2018. You can link to the most recent data from the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service here. It’s updated daily throughout the winter.
