The Festival “celebrates mountain literature and film, bringing together filmmakers, writers, publishers, editors, photographers, athletes, adventurers, and – of course – readers.”

Every year numerous books are submitted to the contest. Then “an international jury of writers, adventurers and editors” selects the best of the best in eight categories. Those categories include:

  2. Mountain Fiction & Poetry
  3. Mountain Literature
  4. Mountain Environment And Natural History
  5. Mountain Image
  6. Guidebook
  7. Mountaineering Article
  8. Mountaineering History

The winners of each category and the grand prize will be announced on November 2, 2017. Over $16,000 will be awarded to the various winners. Stay tuned for that exciting announcement.
