At Least 14 Killed After Avalanche Strikes Village In Chitral, Pakistan

Chital, Pakistan – Late on Saturday, February 4, 2017 an avalanche struck the village of Sher Shal in Chitral in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Numerous homes were buried and reports state that there are at least 14 avalanche fatalities.

At this point, 14 bodies have been retrieved from the avalanche debris. According to, the victims include 6 women, 6 children, and 2 men. Eleven have been rescued and taken to the the hospital in Garam Chashma. Many more are missing.

Unfortunately the death toll is likely to rise.
