Blizzards and snow storms hit 24 provinces in Iran this week. In the aftermath, 9 people were killed in avalanches and 29000 received rescue and relief services.
According toTehranTimes.com, the 9 avalanche fatalities in Iran included:
- 4 porters smuggling goods across the Iran-Iraq border near Sardasht in the West Azerbaijan Province.
- 2 mountaineers near Baneh in Kordestan Province
- 1 individual in a village in West Azerbaijan Province
- 2 electricity company staff members in the Kordestan province
More snow and rain will continue into the weekend.
