On Friday, November 17, 2017 the winner of the Boardman Tasker Award 2017 for Mountain Literature was announced at the Kendal Mountain Festival. A huge congrats goes out to this year’s winner: Art of Freedom by Bernadette McDonald.

Art of Freedom by Bernadette McDonald had fierce mountain literature competition this year. The Boardman Tasker Award for Mountain Literature 2017 had 34 entries overall. Out of those books five outstanding titles made the shortlist, including:
- The Push by Tommy Caldwell
- Days To Remember by Rob Collister
- The Magician’s Glass by Ed Douglas
- Among The Summer Snows by Christopher Nicholson
- Art of Freedom by Bernadette McDonald
